Indian Cricket captain Virat Kohli was present at a press conference ahead of India's first T20I match against Australia in Vishakhapatnam.. One of the questions asked what what was the skipper's take on India vs Pakistan match for ICC World Cup 2019. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has left the decision up to Indian Government. Kohli has promised to respect the decision made by the BCCI.
At the media conference, Kohli said, "Our sincere condolences to the families of CRPF soldiers who lost their lives in Pulwama Attack. We stand by what the nation wants to do and what the BCCI decides to do. We will go by what the government & the Board decides, we will respect that."

Previously, BCCI wrote a letter of ICC asking them to sever ties with countries harbouring terrorism, indirectly asking Pakistan to be removed from the forthcoming World Cup to be hosted in England and Wales. Chairman of CoA, Vinod Rai has also raised concern about players' security during the World Cup after Pulwama attack. The attack is responsible for the death of 40 CRPF Jawans. Rai said, "We have told them clearly that security of the players should be appropriately taken care of at the 2019 World Cup."
Former Cricketers like Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Harbhajan Singh are among the prominent names asking for a boycott not only for the cricket match but also overall obligations with Pakistan. Sachin Tendulkar recently came ahead with his opinion. He said he would hate to give away 2 points to Sarfraz Ahmed and Co.
A couple of suggestions have been made that demand the BCCI to remove Pakistan from the showpiece event. It is incredibly difficult to do so as Pakistan has already qualified for the event. Should the Indian team boycott the match against Pakistan on June 16, 2019 is a decision that the government needs to work on.
