Bollywood stands tall with IAF Pilot Abhinandan, expects early and safe return

The tension between India and Pakistan are tipping towards a breaking point. This tuesday, Indian conducted air strikes in Pakistan's Balakot in response to the Pulwama terror attack that took place on February 14, 2019. The very next day, the Indian government confirmed that an Indian Air Force MiG-21 was shot down by Pakistan. The pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, is currently in Pakistani custody is claimed by their government. Videos of the officer have benn doing the rounds on social media.

While people from both sides of the border have been pleading for safe return of the officer. Pakistani actress Veena Malik posted an insensitive tweet. She shared a picture of the officer and captioned it, "Abhi Abhi Tu Ayo Ho...Achi Mehmaan Nawazi Ho GI Aap Ki." Reading the tweet, Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker couldn't keep calm and slammed her.

A furious Swara tweeted, "Veena ji.. Shame on you & ur sick mindset. Your glee is just gross! Our officer is a hero- brave, gracious & dignified in the face of capture. At least some decency from that major in you army who was questioning #WingCommanderAbhinandan or the many Pakistanis suing 4 peace #sick." When a troller tried to attack Swara, she lashed out at him too. She wrote, "Ji. Aapkey jaisey tang aur ghatiya soch waaley log us taraf bhi hain. Kaafi similarities hain aap dono mein! Aur Ramesh ji, aap Bhartiya Sena mein bharti kyun nahi huey?????"

Raveesh Kumar, spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a press conference said, "The Pakistan Air Force was detected and the Indian Air Force responded instantly. In that aerial engagement, one Pakistan Air Force fighter aircraft was shot down by a MiG 21 Bison of the Indian Air Force. The Pakistani aircraft was seen by ground forces falling from the sky on the Pakistan side. In this engagement, we have unfortunately lost one MiG 21. The pilot is missing in action. Pakistan has claimed that he is in their custody. We are ascertaining the facts."
