Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have been suspended as the inquiry is pending. The inquiry is in reference to outrage-evoking comments objectifying women. As a consequence, both these cricketers have been ruled out of the ODI series against Australia starting today.
The Committee of Administrators (CoA) chairman Vinod Rai said, "Both Pandya and Rahul have been suspended pending an inquiry. Whether it will be an internal committee of the BCCI or an ad hoc ombudsman who will conduct a formal inquiry, is yet to be ascertained." He added, "The Indian team management will take a call on whether they would want to keep the two with the team or send them back. There is a school of thought that they be kept with the team as the backlash back home could be severe but majority in BCCi brass is against the decision."
If the committee decides to bring back these two from Australia then cricketers like Rishabh Pant and Manish Pandey will be considered their replacement. It has been said, "It won't be surprising if two from Vijay Shankar, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey or Rishabh Pant are flown down under."
Their remarks on the show were also condemned by Indian captain Virat Kohli called the remarks inappropriate and asserted that the side does not stand by 'their individual opinions'.
Pandya had boasted about hooking up with multiple women and being openabout discussing the details with his parents. However, Rahul was more restrained in his responses to his relationships and the women in his life.
Speculation suggests that BCCI might refrain cricketers from appearing on entertainment shows owing to this mishap.
