Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman meets filmmaker and cast of 'Uri'


Defense Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman interacted with the team of 'Uri: The surgical strike. They met at the 'at home' function of Army Chief General Bipin Rawat and congratulated the team for 'slick war movie on the spirit of our heroes'. She said she has heard great reviews of the film but she is yet to watch the film to comment her feedback for the same.

She tweeted, "At COAS Bipin Rawat’s #ArmyDay “at home”, with the team of the film #URITheSurgicalStrike. Yet to watch it, but hearing many good things. Kudos, @RonnieScrewvala @AdityaDharFilms @vickykaushal09 @yamigautam for a slick war movie on the spirit of our heroes! #howsthejosh?" The lead actors of the film replied and said they were 'honored' to have met her.

Vicky Kaushal tweeted back saying, "It was an honour meeting you Ma’am 😊🙏." While Yami Gautam in response tweeted, "We are honoured to meet you Ma'am.... and thanks so much for your encouraging words. What you do for the nation is incomparable."

This film is based on the events following the Uri attack that took place in 2016 in Jammu and Kashmir. The film have so far received positive reviews from critics since its release on January 11, 2019.
