Not Brahmastra, this is the real reason why Ranbir didn't attend Deepveer reception


Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh took the plunge and got married after dating for six years. They chose to tie the knot in an intimate ceremony at Lake Como Italy on Nevmber 14 and 15. To celebrate their wedding, they hosted three receptions - one in Bengaluru and two in Mumbai.

The second Mumbai reception was meant for their Bollywood friends. The lavish bash was attended by a variety of Bollywood celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.


However Deepika's ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor gave the evening a miss. Even Alia Bhatt who is a friend of Deepika and Ranveer's also didn't attend the bash because she is dating Ranbir Kapoor. It was said that this couple was busy shooting for Brahmastra. However, a recent report suggests that it had nothing to do with the film's shoot.

The real reason why Ranbir chose not to attend the reception were the jokes about Ranbir singing and dancing on Chana Mereya at their wedding. A source close to Kapoor family said, "The joke about Ranbir singing and dancing to Channa Mereya at Deepika Padukone–Ranveer Singh wedding got to Ranbir. He doesn’t appreciate the public image of the serial dater who never gets the girl. Ranbir is now looking for permanence in his relationship. And you are right. The image of loser in love through his roles doesn’t help. He just decided to stay away from Deepika and Ranveer’s wedding reception although both of them had invited him personally and urged him to come."

Ever since Deepika and Ranveer announced their wedding, multiple jokes and memes targeting Ranbir Kapoor started doing rounds on social media. The memes suggested that Ranbir will be seen singing Chana Mereya at their wedding reception.
