Deepika Padukone's Wedding Saree was not 'Sabyasachi'! It was actually from...


Dressing celebrities on their wedding day has put designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee on the spot. He was called out by Anushka Sharma's wedding photographer for not crediting his images on Instagram. Now he has posted a clarification about designing the newly weds Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's wedding outfits.


Deepika's wedding Konkani saree was not designed by Sabyasachi. It was bought from a local Bengaluru store. The bride's mother Ujjala Padukone had given it to Sabyasachiwho in return modified it and added a bridal Dupatta and accessorized it with jewellery. Sabyasachi disclosed, "As per Konkani tradition, the bride's saree is gifted to her by the other for the wedding. Deepika's wedding saree was given to us by her mother Mrs Ujjala Padukone. We have just received information that the saree was bought from Angadi Galleria, Bengaluru and we would like to them due credit for the same."


As soon as the post was put up, the comments exploded all over the internet. Some applauded Sabyasachi for posting such a clarification and others trolled him for not revealing such information before today. All throughout Deepika was termed as a 'Sabyasachi bride' when he didn't design the outfit from scratch. There were a few harsh comments too. One comment read, "First to post; last to acknowledge." Other said, "You may not know who it was from before, but you surely knew it wasn't your own. And for days it's gone out from your profile and seen as yours."


Other than this minute clarification, Sabyasachi has designed all of the outfits for DeepVeer's wedding starting from Nandi Puja to airport looks. Deepika and Ranveer's wedding ceremonies took place in Italy on November 14 and 15. The Padukones are hosting a reception in Bengaluru tonight (November 21, 2018). Ranveer and Deepika will also host a reception for their Bollywood colleagues sometime next week.
