PM Modi unveils world's tallest statue - 'Statue of Unity'


On the occasion of revolutionary leader Sardar Patel's birth anniversary, PM Narendra Modi unveiled world's tallest statue, Statue of Unity at Kevadiya in Gujarat's Narmada District. PM Modi dedicated this statue to the nation and coined it as a significant moment in the history of the country.

This statue embarks a proper tribute to the ultra tall personality of a man who worked real hard to create India's identity. Patel played a major role in integrating the princely states into Indian Union after the partition of 1947.

To inaugurate this 3000 Cr statue, PM Modi pulled a lever. He also performed a Puja ceremony on Sardar Patel's right toe. He began the puja with water brought in a kalash (holy metal pot) that contained water from 30 holy rivers, including Ganga, Yamuna and Brahmaputra among others. Three Indian Air Force planes flew past the figure and created a tri-colour in the sky after Modi inaugurated this giant statue.

Narendra Modi said, "This is a project that we had conceived when I was the chief minister of Gujarat. To build the statue, lakhs of farmers from all over India came together, gave their tools, portions of soil and started a mass movement." Foundation for this statue was laid by Modi in 2013 as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
